66 Real Thoughts Every Loving Mother Has When Her Child Is Sick

Levels of Discovery Time Out Rocking Chairs

Pimp Your Crib: Time-Out Rockers

Just because your lil one has misbehaved, it doesn't mean she should be banished to the basement. We know you wouldn't really do that. Instead, send her to her naughty place, just like the Supernanny suggests. But, why not make her naughty place a cute one?

Levels of Discovery makes the cutest darn rockers ($60–$160) for the most mischievous lil devils. Each chair has a timer that goes up to 15 minutes as well as the saying, "Time out to think about the things you do, but always remember I love you!" scribed on the chair. It makes mommy guilt so much easier to swallow. Besides, if they don't learn from you, how will they ever learn?

And, beyond the "Time-Out" rockers, the chairs come in a variety of themes — an airplane rocker, a ballerina rocker, a reading rocker with an attached book rack, and others. They can also be customized with your child's name and a special message. Your tot will probably look forward to time alone in her pretty chair. The rockers are available at Target and Babies "R" Us.

Also, I would hope that if you are disciplining correctly, the child doesn't associate "time out" with "mommy doesn't love me."

I had a special chair when i was a kid - but not for timeout! My mom sat me in the corner and made me touch my nose to the wall! If I took my nose off, timeout restarted! Of course, timeouts were pretty short cause of the nose thing. But maaaan, I haaaated it.

I love these but would not get the Time Out one We make them STAND in the corner after trying the "sending to room", "sitting on a chair", etc Standing drives them nuts and ultimately helps out alot more

Last I checked, "time out" is a time to reflect, usually about a behavior problem. It ain't about sitting "pretty", especially to the tune of $60. $160 is out of the dayum question altogether!!! I repeat, WHAT THE HELL?

I don't agree w/ having a "special" time out chair. It somehow seems counter to the whole idea I love a child having his/her own special chair, but I'm not fond of these highly stylized designs. We have the LLBean rockers which look adorable on the porch next to their adult sized versions.

Cute rockers, but time out rockers? :ROTFL: It would not work in my home :RASPBERRY: Sorry, kinda tacky.

Stick them in a corner without a rocker. Why give them any comfort when they're being punished? Misbehaving children don't need comfort when they're being disciplined.

Oh, I see. These are cute, now that I see each one...but the time-out theme is still ridiculous to me.

I just want to clarify that the book holder is for the reading rocker, not the time out rocker. Each chair is unique and has a different theme.

This is both silly and pointless. Why spend money on your child misbehaving? And why is there a book holder on the side? Aren't they being punished? Isn't the point of Time Out that children can't participate in any activities until the parent says they can? This is incredibly ridiculous.

Time Outs are fast becoming more popular in my household. We tried sending them to their room for a few minutes...but i hear that it isnt good to make their room the place for punishment. Soooo...we have a new designated corner that they must sit in if they are bad. Working well so far. Not sure about giving them a rocking chair with books to read....dont want Time Out to end up not being threatening anymore.
