Man in the Mirror or Plain Old Ultrasound?

Ultrasounds can provide parents a mixed bag of emotions. Initially, parents are psyched to see their wee one in the womb — even if he does look like a tiny tadpole. As the weeks progress and his face starts to form, the images can start to look a little freaky deaky, if not adorable. Instead of appearing like the doll one might envision, moms and dads may be surprised to see an alien face staring at them. When one British couple went for an ultrasound of their seventh child, they swore they saw the late Michael Jackson's face in the black and white image. The dad said, "We were looking at the pictures again, and I just saw Jacko there."

Take a look at the photo and tell me, is this like any ordinary ultrasound or do you think there's a hint of the deceased pop star in this woman's womb?

It's not surprising that people see what they want to see, they haven't been trained to identify the images. I don't think its a slur on their character anymore then anyone who doesn't know the ins and outs of a profession they haven't been trained for. These people aren't really included in that though.. lol. This is kind of like the virgin mary in a splattered ketchup packet.

I have been an ultrasound specialist for over twenty years. This is an average pic of a typical fetal face. When it comes to ultrasound often people see what they want to see. I have had people bring ultrasound images that their OBGYN gave them in the DR office and they said "He said it was a face but I don't see it. Do You?" And usually more often than not it is an image of NOTHING even close to the head. So...ethically do I tell them the truth and then undermine their confidence in a idiot that does not know how to use his own machine...or worse unable to determine what anatomy he actually is looking at---------Or-------Just offer to give them better picture I take myself? Yep...I go for option two.

lol, i can see micheal jackson in that.. and sadly for him that's not a good thing. We just had an ultrasound for our current pregnancy and it was VERY skeletal. Total skeletor. The us tech actually laughed and said, eek.. bit too skeletal, but there wasn't much we could do about it. It was get a few shots, or go home empty handed.

well, it doesn't look like Jacko to me. It can be scary to see Skeletor looking at you through the ultrasound. At this stage my girl looked like a prehistoric bird skeleton - beak and all!
