A 3-Year-Old Boy Is the Target of Racist Remarks After an Adult Posted This Facebook Photo

No one deserves to be bullied online, especially a 3-year-old little boy. Cayden Jade became the target of racist comments and insults after his mother's co-worker Geris Roth posted a photo of himself with Cayden on Facebook. The seemingly innocent image, which has since been taken down, quickly received distasteful comments like "dude where the hell did you get a black kid??" "I didn't know you were a slave owner," and more shocking references to slavery.

"I do everything I can to make sure he never has to want or need for anything, and to see grown people bashing a small, helpless child, it breaks my heart," said his mom, Sydney Jade.

Although most of the awful comments on the page were from Geris's social media followers, he admitted he did leave one comment calling Cayden "feral" but said it was in reference to all the children running around in the building and not Cayden.

"I just really feel upset, not only with myself, but also the character that was based off the comments that my friends had made," he said to Fox 5. "Cayden has been victimized but I have been targeted." Geris, who goes by the online alias Geris Hilton and is based in Atlanta, said he even told people to stop making racist remarks. He has since been fired from his job.

Despite the hateful comments, social media users who heard about the story are now offering their support to Cayden and his family. His mom has even started a viral hashtag, #HisNameIsCayden, to shut down her son's haters.

In a Facebook post, she writes, "When people hear about him, these are the pictures I want them to know about. Not that disturbing image and its comments. We are above all of this nonsense that has been going on."
