Mom Starts “Breastfeeding Riot” in Sweden

Swedish mom Natashja Blomberg has shown her support for breastfeeding in a very public way — but it's not what you'd expect.

As the Huffington Post reports, last week Blomberg was given control of Sweden's official Twitter account. The account is run by a different citizen every week, with the goal of sharing diverse opinions and stirring dialogue. Blomberg chose to do this by posting a series of pro-public nursing tweets and photos to Sweden's 28,000 Twitter follows, starting what some are calling a "Breastfeeding Riot."

Most young Swedes don't share Blomberg's views. A 2011 study found that three out of four 18- to 22-year-olds in Sweden believe nursing moms should cover up in public while breastfeeding.

Have you ever been made to feel uncomfortable while nursing in public?

I breastfeed in public and am proud to do so. If I even try to cover up my daughter pulls the cover off and I end up showing more then if I hadn't covered up in the first place (this includes the cover ups that are just an expensive piece of cloth). Please, before calling women sluts because they don't cover up, walk in their shoes. Not all babies allow their heads to be covered and not all babies eat at the same time. My child is fed on demand and there is no routine whatsoever so I have no choice but to feed while we are out and about. I do wear clothing that is appropriate and allows for easy, discreet breastfeeding. Besides, I see more breast on half the women walking through a grocery store then you will ever see while I feed my child.

*I* didn't feel comfortable bfing in public, so I timed my outings around the baby's feedings. But I have zero problem with a woman bfing in public. Big whoop. Babies eat. Moving on.

I can almost guarantee that Samantha shows way more than any breastfeeding mother when she dresses to go clubbing...... I breastfed all 4 of my children, in public, whenever they were hungry, less of the breast shows during breastfeeding than what most females are wearing to go out shopping, not to mention going to the beach or swimming......
