We bet you remember this story: Last year, a Georgia mom of three was crossing a busy road with her three children, when her four-year-old son was hit and killed by a van. The driver, who confessed to drinking, fled the scene but was eventually turned in and has completed his jail sentence: He served six months of a five year sentence. The mom was then sentenced to up to three years in jail - more than the hit and run driver - based on charges of homicide by vehicle in the second degree, jaywalking and reckless conduct.
It was announced today that the mom's sentence has been reduced to one year's probation - and, the judge offered her a new trial.
