Opening Gifts at a Baby Shower

Kiddie Soiree: Baby Shower Gift Opening Tip

Unlike some kiddie birthday parties, it's completely kosher to open the gifts at a baby shower.

But, some full bellied women shun the spotlight when it comes to fawning over bottles and diaper bins. So take some of the heat off the mama–to–be and engage the guests with a present opening game that livens things up. To learn about the time saver,

.

When it's time to open the gifts, ask everyone to sit in a circle and have the hostesses pass each one a present. Each person opens the gift she is holding at the same time. Then the expectant mom goes from person to person, holds up the gift and announces who it's from.

While this speeds up the present process, nothing is lost since everyone sees the adorable onesies, bunny chair and silver spoons. It just allows for a quick return to the sparkling cider and mimosa bar!

For the showers I've been to the expecting mom is quite large and I can't imagine them wanting to moving around so much.. but haven't been in that position so hard to say! I personally like watching the gifts being open for a baby shower.. I can see this being great for a wedding shower though!

Even though it is customary to open gifts at the shower, I tend to find it quite boring(as a recipient and a guest). It doesn't matter to me that they open their gift in front of me. They will usually say something afterwards about it to me.

As much as I hate opening gifts, I hate this idea more. I think something is hugely lost in not seeing the guest of honor open your individual gift. I don't want some random person I'm only going to meet on that day opening the gift I gave, I want the mom to.Thankfully, this doesn't seem to be something that's a trend around here, so I don't need to worry.

This is a great trick...everyone loves opening presents and no more embarassing spot light or over extended fawning
