Kate Middleton Makes the Wrap Dress a Maternity Must

Feb 19 2013 - 4:53pm

I spy a growing baby bump on the Duchess of Cambridge this morning! Kate Middleton returned to her royal duties making an official visit to Hope House in London earlier today, and for the first time we caught a glimpse of the royal baby bump. Wearing a leopard-print Max Mara wrap dress with a gray camisole beneath it, pregnant Kate showed that she's already caught on to one expectant mama favorite — the wrap dress. A dress that grows with you through your pregnancy (and one that can be adjusted throughout the day), the wrap dress is a staple in many moms-to-be's wardrobes. Choosing a print version of the style, Kate proved that she's not going to be shy about showing off her belly in the coming months.

Love her look? We do too, so we've rounded up eight of our favorite print wrap dresses — both maternity and nonmaternity — to take you through your pregnancy. Check them out!

Kate Middleton's Max Mara Studio leopard wrap dress was a comfortable option for her first day back at work this year.

The dress allowed the expecting Duchess of Cambridge to cover up her expanding bustline and remain comfortable around her midsection.

Leave it to Diane von Furstenberg to design the ultimate print wrap dress. Her New Julian Two Wrap Dress [2] ($345) is perfect for both during and after pregnancy.

Kate Spade's Daniella Stripe Silk Wrap Dress [3] ($428) may not be designed for expectant mamas, but it works great for them, too. With a higher neckline than a traditional wrap dress and a hook-and-eye closure at the neck, it can accommodate growing bustlines as well.

This BCBG Long Sleeve Wrap Maternity Dress [4] ($185) from A Pea in the Pod brings some color to the animal-print pattern.

This Three Seasons Maternity Women's 3/4 Sleeve Print Wrap Dress [5] ($48) would be great for work and weekend too.

Who says a wrap dress actually has to wrap? This Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique Elbow Sleeve Faux Wrap Maternity Dress [6] ($150) gives the illusion of wrapping around the waist, but is actually sewn shut for even easier dressing.

This python-print long-sleeved maternity dress [7] from Motherhood Maternity ($40) becomes more playful with its purple accents.

Olian's Monique Wrap Dress [8] ($130) uses a scroll pattern to draw attention to mama's growing bump.

It doesn't have to be Valentine's Day to don a red dress like this long-sleeved version from A Pea in the Pod [9] ($100).
