Is There a Point When You'd Turn Your Back on Your Child?

Is There a Point When You'd Turn Your Back on Your Child?

Cindy Anthony, the same woman who reported her granddaughter, Caylee, missing, is standing behind her daughter, Casey Anthony, 22, who has been indicted for murdering the two-year-old girl. After telling police that Casey's car smelled like something had died in it, the grandmother is now saying she believes the child is alive. What would you do if you were in this position?

By protecting Casey, she is doing little Caylee an injustice. And, Greggie, I couldn't agree more with what you said.

I don't think I'd have much trouble sending even my own child to prison if they'd murdered my toddler grandchild in cold blood.

you know, considering what happens in prison i don't think i could do anything that would help send my child away EVEN if i knew they were guilty. this poor grandmother lost a granddaughter and now her choice is to help send her daughter away and do the "right" thing, or try and keep her child out of harms way. horrible choices!

there comes a time when even a parent has to turn their back. Enabling doesn't help anyone. It is tough love. It doesn't mean you don't love your child, but in this case it should have been done long ago.

sometimes love is shown more through the truth than in covering for them..

Admitting your child committed a horrible crime doesn't mean you've turned your back on him or her. It's admitting truth. It's holding the child accountable for their actions. If I thought one of my kids had committed a serious crime, I'd turn him or her in. It would probably be almost as painful as if they died, but I'd do it BECAUSE I love them. It's unconditional.

i would support my child and hope that they fess up to their wrong doings, and if they don't do it willingly then i will as much as it will hurt to do it but the person my child killed or hurt needs justice, in this case caylee needs justice as madeline does

you know....i can't honestly say....i do know...no matter what my child may do...no matter how horrible...i will always love them....BUT.....if i knew something..i would tell.....would i purposely rat my child out if i knew something....yes..i would. they need to be held accountable for their actions...thats part of being a adult

Interesting as well because I believe her father testified against her. I think it's being a good parent. Even though you love your child to the ends of the world, if they committed murder and you know about it, you should tell.

I don't think it's turning your back on your child to admit that you believe they did something terribly wrong. I can't imagine being in the position this family is, but I would hope that I could support my child and the law appropriately.
