Polygamist Sect Children Going Home

Children of the Sect Are Headed Home Today

Back in April, Texas officials took over 400 children into custody of the Child Protective Services. When I asked you if you empathized with the mothers of the sect, many of you didn't, but felt for the children as they had been taken from the only homes they knew.

After many weeks, much discussion and courtroom drama, Texas District Judge Barbara Walther signed an order allowing parents from the Yearning For Zion Ranch to pick up their children from foster care facilities starting today.

To see what restrictions the parents must follow,

But it's not a complete win for the members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the parents cannot leave Texas without court permission. They have also been ordered to take mandatory parenting classes. Additionally, the CPS will continue their investigation into abuse within the ranch. The parents have been ordered not to interfere with the investigation and must permit CPS to test the children with psychiatric or medical exams if required.

Many now believe the original phone call to be a hoax. Without any concrete evidence of abuse, do you think the judge made the right call?

I wish the name of their compound was "Yearning for Hidden Valley" because then every time they added Ranch at the end it would be a funny joke.

There is abuse within that religious sect - but just b/c it is easier to take every child doesn't make that ok. CPS and the govts need to focus on getting their evidence, investigating abuse and dealing with the documented abuses without extending beyond what they can prove. Just like any other case they work on.

I'm glad they are going back home. I thought it was all bogus from the beginning... taking ALL the kids from the sect because ONE girl from ONE family supposedly called? I don't support their religion (at all) or their lifestyle, but I think what the state did to them was wrong.
