I honestly think something is wrong with people who look down on others for giving THEIR children the best of the best. I breast fed my daughter for 4 months and still miss it even though she is 2. I have rights as a breast feeding mother to have my boob out in public. If it makes you uncomfortable, walk away. My children get hungry. I am pregnant with my second child and already been producing milk for her. I am not one to cover up anything. I will pull out my rights where I have them. A breast feeding mother is allowed to feed in public with or without a cover. I had a supply issue with my first daughter, and gave her "milk from a can" and she was disgusted by it but tolerated the crap. My sister found 4 screws in her son's formula (she exclusively feeds formula), and it made me want to be as natural as possible with my own kids. So I began pumping from the start of my pregnancy. So I have an over supply of milk. Try and tell me I can not feed my baby in public... Watch me not get mad, but walk around while feeding my LO and stalk you. >:D

There are plenty of things I find so much trashier than breastfeeding... Women with skimpy clothing for instance. Or men with their beerbellies hanging out. But apparently that's ok and breastfeeding isn't.

wow, tmtstrong--you are SO right, it will be HARD to explain to a child that the lady is feeding her child. This is ridiculous, what could be EASIER to explain??? It's really not that hard, and honestly breasts are meant for feeding babies not for the sexual pleasure of men. Get over yourself.

I just viewed the slide show while nursing my 21 M daughter. What a beautiful moment to share, particularly on a day like today. : ) As for people who are offended by nursing in public, pshaw, I feel sorry for your formula-fed child. Breasts are the best!

Breastfeeding has its ups and downs. Sometimes it was painful or my baby refused one breast but in a whole it was one of the very best things I ever did in my life. The joy, fulfillment, intimacy and alone time with the baby were priceless. And when the dopamine kicked in I got real cuddly and romantic. Loved those hormones! And never having to worry about sanitising bottles was a great plus. I breastfed for a little over one year.

In other countries, where breastfeeding isn't frowned upon or thought of as disgusting or sexual, they breastfeed up until 4 years old. It's not uncommon and highly recommended.

runningesq, I just recently weaned my 2.5 year old. It's not weird and a lot more common than you might think. The World Health Organization recommends nursing until AT LEAST two years old.

Redsilk, you are still nursing your three year olds?

Ditto on all of them. I'm still nursing my almost 3 year old twins and wouldn't have it any other way.

This is nice; it's also nice see breasts in this way and not just sexualized and for men. To realize how powerful and awesome we are as women.

That's a really cute illustration :-)

These are all of the reasons I love nursing :) I am currently weaning my almost 1-year old, and while I am happy to be done this phase, it's also sad that it's already going to be over!
