Principal Under Fire for Explaining Porn to Student

Principal Under Fire for Explaining Porn to Student

Michigan dad Steve Werner is angry about a lesson he says his daughter received at Utica High School. Werner says the school's principal, Mrs. Jones, shared highly inappropriate information about the pornography industry with his tenth grade daughter.

Werner's daughter was called into the principal's office for wearing a "disruptive" female pirate costume to school on Halloween. She says the principal compared her outfit to a porn star's and explained, in detail, what the porn industry is all about.

In protest, Werner is now driving around town with a trailer that says "Mrs. Jones taught my daughter about porn. Quote: 'All men watch porn.'"

Other members of the community aren't so sure Werner should be up in arms: According to a CBS News report, "people on Facebook have even threatened to burn his trailer."

If I were the principle I'd be going after that dad for defamation of character. What a pile of -- . If the dad really cared about his daughter he should have been on her case about the outfit.

Sounds to me like dad is over-reacting a bit. The teacher probably could have spared the student some details, but if the student asked, then kudos to the principal for explaining something tough. Although I disagree that "all men watch porn." I know lots and lots of good men who don't, and have never. Way to sidetrack the educational focus of the school, though. This is why I am deciding now to be involved in my kids' schools, and to keep tabs on their activities and teach them what is appropriate. Ugh. Grow up all around, folks.

She's what, 15-16 years old? She obviously chose that costume for a reason; I'm sure to get attention. Parents should have vetoed a questionable costume to begin with. Bad parenting followed by a terrible example to his children with how to address other adults you disagree with. Sad

Oh, leave the principle alone. Kid probably knows about porn and the fact the parents let her wear that costume is questionable.

Wow!! Utica High!! If I didn't end up going to catholic high school, that's where I would've been. Can't believe they are making national news!! Thank God my parents put us kids first!! Things were bad then and that was 17 years ago!!
