Reasons I Didn't Like Camp

My thoughtful parents believed sending me to overnight camp would make my Summer. Maybe I was too young or maybe it was the wrong camp, but I didn't love it the way my pals gloated about theirs. I appreciated my mom and dad's generosity and learned a lot from the experience, but overnight camp was not for me. Here are the 10 reasons why.

I hated camp. Thought it was awful, and will never return, for any reason. 6th grade camp was a lot of fun, though.

my 10 year old is at her first sleep over camp right now. it's with her 4th grade class, and i was only okay with it because it's 1) 15 minutes from our house, 2) i was with her for dinner, and 3) i know all the kids there.one night is long enough i think. i'll be glad to have her home tomorrow night.

This was great fun to read. I'll bet the mosquitos were there to greet you when you returned to Houston. Ha!

THANK GOD you werent my camper! I used to tell the parents of "those" kind of campers "they arent camp material" you either are or you arent. I loved every second, even the communal showers, bugs, wierd campmates, food, the heat, making beds...etc.

You had communal showers at your camp???? That is terrible. Camp can be alot of pressure all by itself without the fear of being naked in front of other judging children. I had a love hate relationship with camp. When I think back on it, I learned alot of social skills there and I really think that I am the person that I am partially because of camp- basically, I don't take anyones crap :) My reasons I hated camp:1. There was always alot of pressure on the bus ride to have a partner to sit next to and since I went to a NY camp and was from Seattle, I never had anyone to sit next to. 2. We didn't have email back then so I didn't keep in touch with these girls during the year. Every summer I would come back and they would change without me knowing it. People who were my friend were no longer talking to me. That was interesting. 3. The pizza (once a week) sucked!4. We had to swim in a lake TWICE a day. Morning was learning and afternoon was for fun. Nothing fun about that cold lake. I could go on and on...I will let my kids go to camp if they want to, but I would never force them.
