A Letter to My Unborn Baby: Here's What I Promise You

Shedding Baby Weight Has Been a Cinch For Rebecca Romijn

Motherhood seems like a natural fit for newbie Rebecca Romijn. The wife of Jerry O'Connell is featured on the cover of the latest issue of InStyle and posed for an inside spread with their darling duo — 5-month old twin daughters, Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip. And, it seems that though the celebmama ate for three during pregnancy, the postpartum pounds have been anything but stubborn. Rebecca said:

I'm a jeans size up from where I usually am, but there's nothing about it that freaks me out—I've always said that sexy is having a really strong sense of yourself and never taking yourself too seriously.

After debuting a svelte figure just weeks after leaving the hospital with her new babes, the actress has attributed her rapid weight loss of about 60 pounds in four months and fit physique to two things — breastfeeding and Spanx, not exercise. To see what she said,

. Last month, Rebecca told People:

I think within the first three weeks, I took off like 35 lbs. without doing anything! I haven't been able to work out that much because I have twins. It's impossible to get back into a regular schedule.

It looks like the former model turned mama has some amazing genetics.

60lbs in a twin pregnancy is very normal. Most women gain that much in a usual pregnancy. About 35lbs is the actual pregnancy, babies, extra body fluids e.t.c. And breastfeeding takes about 400 calories a day. With two babies and no time, what she says is very much plausible...

why do we shower praise on women who have just given birth because they lost weight? are the babies healthy, is she getting the supports she needs as a new mother, is medical care what it should be for her and the babies? these are what we should talk about. and she looks different because she a giving big, full smile and it makes her cosmetic surgery for gummy smile more obvious.

With my first pregnancy, I gained at least 40 lbs. I don't know precisely what my starting weight was, so I'm not sure how much over 40 it was. I lost a ton of it right off the bat with breastfeeding. And like you, amcclung, I pretty much ate what I wanted. I was healthy, but I was eating a lot. Then I toned up after she was about 6 months old with working out and eating right after I got into a better schedule. I, for one, don't see what the big deal is about her gaining 60lbs with twins. I'm sure that's what I would have put on...especially if I was stick-thin to start.

Oh, my gosh. That sounded a little rude. I didn't mean that fun was not underweight. Instead of 'I really was underweight' I meant to say 'I was really underweight.' Sorry about that.

Wow. Very harsh comments. Every woman is different. My story is similar to fun's. Though, I really was underweight the first time around (5'3" and 99 lbs.) I gained 55 with both pregnancies. With the first, I lost 60 within two weeks. With the second, I lost 50 within three weeks. I contribute 100% of the weightloss to breastfeeding. I ate constantly, but the pounds just kept melting away. She was gorgeous before, so why would you expect anything different afterward?

I gained 30 pounds with both pregnancies, and 10 days after having each daughter, I was down 40 pounds. I didn't breastfeed either! I did have Cesarians and didn't feel like eating, but I think for me a lot of it was fluid. I didn't have the tone I had before getting pregnant, but I didn't keep a single ounce of baby weight.

I had twins too and gained around 60 pounds. I kid you not, I lost 40 pounds in the first week because it was mostly fluid. I suspect the same thing happened with her.

I'm disturbed with the mean-spirited comments about surgery and doubting that breastfeeding works for weight loss. True, it doesn't work for everyone, but it can work for some women. I gained 50 pounds with both pregnancies; I was considered underweight (5'3" 110 lbs.) to begin with so my midwife and OB/GYNs did not worry about the weight gain. After the first birth, I was back to my regular size -- with the exception of much larger boobs -- within 10 weeks. The second time around took slightly longer with 4 months before I was back to my regular size. Both times, I did not exercise (who has the time with a toddler and an infant?), but I was breastfeeding around the clock and on-demand. No, I did not starve myself. If anything, I ate more than ever, and was really conscious of my caloric intake because I knew I was producing milk for my babies. I continued my prenatal vitamins and upped my calcium supplements to lessen the risk of calcium-deficiency since I was lactating. I nursed both my girls for a total of 6 years, and I miss it to this day -- it was a wonderful bonding experience.

I dont blame them for gaining the weight they do, I bet 90% of their day is spent not eating or thinking about what not to eat. I can totally understand why they go a little wild when they are told to gain for the baby.

Gaining 60 lbs for a pregnancy is gluttonous. I sincerely doubt she lost all that weight with Spanx. Is Spanx a miracle worker now? Does it make you lose weight? As for breastfeeding, I don't buy it either.

The weird thing about these celebrity pregnancies is that they gain SO MUCH weight while they are pregnant! I know Rebecca had twins, but 60lbs is still a lot. Are they all so underweight to begin with that they have to put on that much?

If she really expects us to believe that she lost 60 pounds in four months with nothing other than breastfeeding, she should should be nominated for an Emmy. Those first photos of her, just two weeks after the babies' birth, were nothing short of miraculous. I'm willing to bet a plastic surgeon was in the delivery room with her.
