Let Your Child Get Spray Happy With a Fun Art Project

If you're looking for something to mix up the afternoon, reach for a spray bottle and a little paint and go on a scavenger hunt for interesting objects. They'll transform into something really unique with this interactive art activity that's fun for all ages.

What You'll Need:

  • Canvas
  • Scrap paper
  • Spray bottle
  • Acrylic paint
  • A variety of objects
  • Tape (optional)

Directions:

  1. Take your child on a scavenger hunt around your house searching for items that have interesting shapes. You can use kitchen utensils, plant leaves, or even toys.
  2. Cover your work area with scrap paper to protect your space.
  3. Arrange one, or several, of the items on the canvas, using tape to keep them in place and nice and flat as needed.
  4. Add about a teaspoon of acrylic paint to a small spray bottle, and fill with one-quarter cup of water. Shake and then let your child spray over the items.

  1. After the paint dries, lift up the items and see what the canvas looks like. Does the shadow look like the object? Find the perfect spot to display the artwork.
