St. Patrick's Day Tips for Kids

Lil Tip: Making St. Patrick's Day Fun for the Lil Leprechauns

One of my friends plays the cutest trick on her first grade students on St. Patrick's Day.

While my daughter is too young for her antics, maybe you can take a page from her book.

Before your kids wake up or while they are napping, make a mess of their toys, books and other household things. When they notice someone has been tinkering with their toys, you can tell them that a naughty lil leprechaun has been scurrying around the house. They'll delight in the surprise and mischief.

To further the Irish celebration, whip up some green eggs and milk. Grab a bottle of green food dye at your local grocer. At breakfast, plop a few drops of the emerald juice into their milk.

My child is a HUGE Dr. Suess fan and he loves the color green so green eggs have become a part of the routine I never thought of the green milk though! Great idea!

I agree that eating green food would gross me out, but that story's super cute, Lickety Split!

at my girls school the kindergarten class makes a leprechaun trap every year. they are very proud of what they come up with using paper towel rolls, shoe boxes, etc. then they paint it green. the teacher leaves a bit of a torn jackt from a dolls coat and enough gold candy coins for each child in the class. i didn't think my kids would go for this but they loved it. i have pix somewhere, i'll see if i can put some up. i think it's fun. childhood should be a time of magic and imagination :)
