Strawberry Recipes for Kids

LilSugar Challenge: Kid-Friendly Strawberry Recipes

Strawberries are one of Summer's sweetest treats. A late Winter harvest of the juicy, Vitamin C and fiber-filled red berries has drastically reduced their prices, making them more accessible than ever. Their abundance and this weekend's California Strawberry Festival have inspired me to head to the kitchen and see what new dishes I can whip up for my tots over the next few days.

I challenge you to do the same. Using strawberries as your key ingredient, see what culinary masterpieces you can create for your lil ones. From muffins, jams, and smoothies to strawberry pasta the possibilities are endless. Once you've served your strawberry surprise, share it with us in The Children's Table group over at the LilSugar Community for a chance to be featured on our site!

My kids eat strawberries straight from the package but when I get the chance to cook with them we usually make Crepes or shakes with them.

I have been known to mash strawberries with a fork, sprinkle a little sugar on them and pour over a little milk to make a "soup" for dessert. My son loves it.

I like to take strawberries and add them to regular pancake mix and a little confectioners suger ... you make the pankcakes and they will be a moister cake than you would think but then you sprinkle on top the sugar no syrup ness. THey are delicious and simple.

Most of the strawberries in the house never last long enough to be used in a recipe! They've been my favorite food since I can remember.
