In a Heartwarming Video, a Teen Asked Her Lifelong Father Figure to Adopt Her

Lauren Hernandez has had her mom's boyfriend, Joe Iosco, in her life for the last 17 years, and though he's not her biological dad, he's been nothing but a father figure to her since she was 1 year old. In July, Lauren gathered her family and close friends together to celebrate her high school graduation, but little did Joe know, he was about to get the surprise of a lifetime. Lauren presented him with a box containing a framed poem and underneath, official adoption papers, which caused him to immediately break down into tears alongside an emotional Lauren.

"I've wanted nothing more than to be her dad from day one," Joe told CBS 2. "[The papers are] one of the best things I've ever received in my life."
