Many teachers change the lives of their students for the better, but a kindergarten teacher in Dallas named Marie Bell has done something that will keep a whole family intact.
It all began when Mrs. Bell found out that the father of one of her sudents was hospitalized with kidney failure. She volunteered to be tested for compatibility and turned out to be a perfect donor match. This past Tuesday she and the father, Marshall Smith, successfully completed the transplant procedure.
Bell told WFAA-TV, "How could I look at that little boy, in his eyes every day, greet him as his caregiver, teacher, as his educator, and as a mother, and know that I didn't try?"
