I agree with most others, you shouldn't go out of your way to have twins. It's just a simple fact that there are higher levels of risks associated with having twins than with a single child. And anon #3, twins aren't all that frequent.

kmckay has the right idea. This article is irresponsible. Please do a little research and present all the facts and risks associated with multiple pregnancies before suggesting ways to increase one's chances and to encourage it. One of the main goals of IVF practices (supported by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine) is to reduce the rate multiple births. Some risks for twin pregnancies include, high rates of prematurity, low birth weight, perinatal morbidity and mortality among others. Reference: J Moise, The outcome of twin pregnancies after IVF. Human Reproduction, Vol 13, 1702-1705.

Twins are at an increase for miscarriage, delivery complications, premature births (which can later lead to developmental delays, learning disabilities, sensory issues, etc..) Although it happens and many children and mothers are fine, it isn't something that should be advertised or encouraged in my opinion.

Thank God I'm not likely to have twins! That would kill me! I'd only want that if I had tons of money and 4 nannys!

This is a little loony, imho. Most women should not WANT to have twins and try to have them. It leads to much more complications both for the mother and the baby.
