Tricks Another Mama Taught Me: Bra Fitting

A fellow mommy just told me her trick to a fabulous figure — a postpartum bra fitting. Having breastfed her two children well past their first birthdays, she joked that her once perky boobs were now drooping enough to hold a six pack of beer under them. As a mama juggling work and home life, she said her alternative to going under the knife was as simple as a trip to Nordstrom. She left the kids at home and took the time to get measured. Three bras and a couple of hundred dollars later, her girls were right back where they used to be thanks to properly fitting undergarments. And, no recovery time was required.

So yes - Bravado sells bras (full disclosure)which is a good thing! And they really know their stuff. Here is a great link to finding the perfect fit... http://www.bravadodesigns.com/page.asp?ID=621

Lil, I totally agree with you! Three months after weaning my lil one and losing the rest of my baby weight, I went for a proper bra fitting at Bloomingdale's. After 2 minutes of measuring and 45 minutes of trying on different styles, I walked away with three new bras that fit better than any I had ever bought before. Your breasts change so much during and after pregnancy that it is a necessary indulgence!

I highly recommend that every woman be fitted for a bra as well. Not at Victoria's Secret or Motherhood where their goal is to sell THEIR bras, but by an actual professional fitter. I have no experience with Nordstroms so I don't know how well they train theirs, but VS and Motherhood are notoriously bad at it. I do a specialty bra shop here and they even convert regular Fantasie bras to nursing bras for me since no company makes a nursing bra that properly supports me.
