My 16-month-old son likes to run so waiting in long lines at Disney Land a few weeks ago proved to be a test to his patience and my art of distraction.
Luckily, my inventive mother was on the trip and came up with a little task that occupied his time at the park and in restaurants. To learn about the trick,
Knowing that the lil guy likes to fiddle around with locks and the like, she showed him how to open and close the common plastic clasps that are found on high chairs, messenger bags, strollers, and grocery carts. Excited to do it on his own, he sat in deep concentration until he figured it out. And then spent the next few days repeating the task.
While this worked well for us, use your best judgment in teaching it to your own tot!
