Visiting Relatives

Do Visiting Relatives Stay at Your House?

One of the biggest reasons we bought our home is because it has a guest room. And as long as there is a free bed, I have an open door policy with visiting relatives. When my parents or in-laws are in town, I look forward to seeing their suitcases roll in as they get to see more of their grandchildren. But, for the sake of space, schedule, privacy or personalities, not all families want their relatives to bunk up in their abode. What's your situation?

it's okay, but after so long i start to want my privacy again real soon. plus when my boyfriends parents come to visit his mom takes over the kitchen, makes her own grocery shopping list, and plans all the meals for that entire time they are here..i only got a chance to make lunch once while they were here the last time. she even unloaded the dryer and folded our clothes..i did not want her folding my underware!! then she took them into our bed room and stacked it all on the bed, i'm pretty sure the door was closed and she opened it and marched right in while my bf and i were somewhere else. i find some family who stay over can be intrusive!!

when I actually have a house and it's big enough then absolutely!

My condo is small ... very small. It barely does the two of us. If anyone were to stay, they'd have to sleep on the floor so we try to discourage it. When we get a larger place, then we won't mind.

All of my family live with a half hour drive from me so they wouldn't need to stay but if they needed to they are welcome.

of course they do! and when my mom or mother-in-law come my house is always cleaner then when they got here, there are meals in the freezer ready to be eaten, there are new flowers planted in my flower beds and my daughter is exhausted from all the fun gammy time...it is the best!

Yep they sure do.My home is always open to them. I love having family members staying with me and I get sad when it's time for everyone to leave...

Yes, most of our family stay with us. My mom just left after visiting for 2 weeks. My in-laws used to stay with us, but they recently bought a condo in the area so they have their own place now. However, if we have another child, we won't have a guest room, so I'll have to be creative with our loft space or family will have to stay elsewhere. I am a bit bummed we didn't plan better and get a larger house with more bedrooms.

I don't have the room of family to stay with me. If I did than I would be more than happy to have them stay.

My dad actually just left this morning after staying with us for a week. I love having my parents stay with us because they get to spend that much more time with their grandson (and they'll wake up with him and let me sleep in!)
