I made a few pairs of maternity jeans during my first pregnancy. Just cut off the top band and sewed a 3 or 4-inch wide elastic band. It worked for the beginning of pregnancy, but not when I got really big toward the end.

So far I have bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans but that's it (not counting bras -- I just discovered the bra band extenders. They should save me a ton of $$). I already had a good supply of extra long CK tank tops that easily stretch to cover my belly.Otherwise, I'm with you vinnie! Dresses and leggings rule. I was able to use my regular jeans until 5 1/5 months using the rubber band trick but then my thighs and ass got too big. Boo.
