Website lil Loves: Rent A Toy

After taking inventory of your lil one's toy box, it's hard to imagine adding toys to the heaping pile this time of year. How about renting them instead?

The site RentaToy.com allows parents to rent 2-8 toys at a time. When your tot tires of her selection, which she inevitably will, ship them back and a new shipment of goodies will be sent back to you. Prices start at $25 a month and if your child falls in love with a certain item, just log onto your account and purchase it. No need to buy anything she is not interested in — or anything at all!

I know what you're all thinking: What about the germs? Well, when toys enter, exit and return to Rent A Toy, they are inspected, thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, and tested for condition and usability. The site also tests for the following hazards: bacteria, lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, bromine, antimony, chlorine, phthalates, and loose magnetic parts, which is more than you can say for your wee one's playthings at home.

I think the maintenance make the toys safe for kids. Safety is the most important thing of toys that will given for kids.

We recently opened an account and the kids were so excited to receive toys in the mail. (It's like Christmas every month.) I have 4 kids....it's hard enough taking trips to the store without my kids begging for every toy in sight. With rentatoy, they do all the work for me! They offer a variety of toys that are not only fun, but educational. I see this as a great opportunity to "test" the toys before I actually consider purchasing. It's a "win-win" situation - I'm happy, the kids are happy...we're all happy.

i dont think id be into this. There are plenty of discount/used toy services that are available that let you "sell" back toys, but all in all toys really arent that expensive and at young ages they last a long long time becuase they go through stages of learning and development where the same toy is used in many different ways. If you also think about the cost of renting vs buying a toy and passing it down, its more economic to keep them around for the younger gens. I was a sibling to 3 others, and almost all of our toys were passed down and played with gladly.

It looks like they're mostly educational toys...the more the better! I was at toysrus over the weekend and most of the toys were open box with half the kids putting their hands all over them anyways...gross!I used babyplays before and my girl loves having something different to play with every month. The toys always arrive clean and at least I trust they were cleaned by somebody. I like the selection at rentatoy...I told my X to sign up for rentatoy if he wanted to play a role... He pays..I choose! My kids are happy and we don't have to talk...Perfect!

this seems gross. Even if they are cleaned, how many toys does a kid need? This doesn't seem reasonable.

Germs didn't occur to me, I figured a place like that would thoroughly disinfect everything. I just have no interest in the idea. The $25 is for only two toys. I'd likely end up spending more to rent toys than I would to just buy new stuff.
