I think the idea of ruining $500 pjs (which is bound to happen) is just sad.  That being said, a cute robe, which you can put on over whatever you are wearing (and are willing to ruin) is a good option. A super cute, comfy top or bed jacket are also cute options too.

Gorgeous loungewear - new moms totally need to treat themselves! Higher-end yoga wear is a great buy, too, whether you take fitness classes or just wear it around the house when you're on leave. But - and this is IMPORTANT - light-coloured clothing is a terrible option to bring to the hospital! Not sure what recovery is like for moms who've had c-sections (though I doubt PJ pants would be comfortable), but those who deliver vaginally can expect a ton of bleeding (way more than you'd have during your period). Please don't ruin a gorgeous RL sleep shirt in the hospital!

Everyone made fun of me for buying new PJs for after the baby was born, but they did so much for me emotionally! I highly recommend it!
