What Strange Food Combinations Do Your Kids Love?

What Is Your Child's Strangest Food Combo?

What could be better than peanut butter and ranch dressing? There are some foods that are rarely paired in cookbooks: bacon and syrup, cantaloupe and pepper, and honey and broccoli are just a few of them. While mommy offers up different fare for tasting, wee ones often find meal combos that please their young palates but make mama want to hurl. Many tots will dip most everything into a vat of ketchup — waffles, carrots, and green beans. My daughter's dip of choice? Ranch. The creamy white dressing has even made its way onto her peanut butter sandwich. It may sound terrible to us but if it gets the tot to gobble up his meal, who's to judge their tiny taste buds?

Don't be shy. Tell us what your child's strangest food combinations are in the comments!

My oldest used to toast a chocolate pop tart in the toaster and then place a slice of American cheese on top of it while it was still hot so it melted. Not only does the thought of this make me cringe, just the fact that I bought such crap food back then is horrifying to me. I'm so glad we've changed. :-) As of now I don't think they have any weird food combos or concoctions.

yogurt... if there is yogurt on her plate, absolutely everything gets dipped in it. She's only 2, so there isn't alot of experimentation yet, but yogurt is the ultimate for her now.

I don't think bacon and syrup is all that weird (or sausage and syrup for that matter) ... that is something I know a lot of people do and everyone in my family does. Here are combos I've come across in babysitting, working in daycare, nephews, and some of my own lol -ketchup with everything - cheetoes, mac&cheese with corn, are examples -peanut butter mixed with syrup and bread -mayonnaise on bread

My son is forever coming up with new recipes that will only please his taste buds but yet he tries to get me to try them. We talked early in his life about how it is OK to eat what you want and make what you want and not to make fun of other people for what they eat and to ask for the same courtesy from in return. I tell him as long as he eats it I don't care what he makes and he has been really good about sticking to that rule.

My cousin, when he was young made his favorite sandwhich: Mayo and sugar on Wonder bread. The thought still makes me cringe.

My brother used to LOVE peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. Blech. That still makes me want to gag.
