What Was Your Child's First Sign of Independence?

What Was Your Child's First Sign of Independence?

My first day going back to work after maternity leave my son was happily playing with my mother-in-law and could've cared less when I left. Now at 9mos he still doesn't care he's too busy playing. :( So much for separation anxiety.

Although I don't any kids, I remember my mom telling me that on my first day of pre-school, she watched me happily trot away to play with the other kids and she promptly sat in the car and wept. :( It must be a joyous but also sad occasion when your child begins to gain his/her independence!
