Which Nursing Position Did You Use?

There's more than one way to nurse a baby. Lactation consultants recommend switching positions to help with milk production, mastitis, and general comfort — though once a new mama gets familiar with one hold, she typically sticks with it. It's a complicated process in the beginning, but finding the best breastfeeding stance for you and your baby helps everyone go with the flow. Which nursing position did you use?

It's usually the cradle, but I've done that football thing ever once in a while. The first 1 1/2 months I'd also be lying down with her at night when we were still co-sleeping.

I didn't want to vote because I honestly used a lot of different positions and that wasn't an option. I learned quickly and the hard way that I needed to switch positions or I would end up with plugged ducts. Most often I used the cradle hold, but at night we would lie in bed, and if I felt like I might get a plugged duct, I would switch up the positioning a little. I always find it interesting and a little baffling that the lactation consultants on all of those new baby shows have the moms use the football hold. I felt like that was the most difficult with a newborn! Most of my nursing friends agreed with me.
