I could not agree more. I even wrote a chapter in my memoir about it: http://magicdogpress.wordpress... I realized very quickly that my son was naturally including a number of "special needs" friends in his circle--but that he simply thought of them as "friends," and he accepted their challenges and physical differences much like he accepted another friend's distaste for peas--they were simply something to be factored into the friendship--they did not define the friend.
