A Wild Wicked-Inspired Sixth Birthday Party

Feb 22 2013 - 9:04am

Photographer (and supercreative mom of twins) Melanie Monroe [1] jumped to the challenge when her girls requested a Wicked-inspired sixth birthday party. "This party was so much fun to plan! I started a Pinterest board months ago and got lots of great ideas!" Melanie says. "During Halloween [2], I was able to get some great witch decorations, and I was able to snag some fun green items for the 'Emerald City Dress-Up Boutique' when all the St. Patrick's Day items came out right after Christmas." Add in karaoke, a Flying Monkey zip line, a Madame Morrible tornado ride, and Glinda and Elphaba cupcakes, and you have one "wicked" cool party for two lucky twins, beautifully photographed by Amy Gray [3]. Keep clicking to check out all the witch-tastic details.

Glinda and Elphaba

"The girls were Dorothy and Glinda a few years ago for Halloween [5], so we already had the Glinda costume," Melanie says. "Once they saw Wicked, I bought the witch costume on Amazon."

"We got a plain green cake and my husband decorated it with all the little diamonds," Melanie says. "It involved lots of math."

Witch Cupcakes

"I made these myself," Melanie says. "The witch hat was a Hershey's Kiss stuck to a mint cookie with a little dab of frosting. The crowns were hair combs."

Also in the mix: pink and green juice boxes, pink and green rock candy, pink and green M&M's, pink and green Skittles, pink and green cake pops, and green applesauce packets."
