Woman Gives Birth to Heaviest Baby on Record

19-Pound Baby Sets Birth Weight Record . . . OUCH!

How would you like to give birth to a 1-year-old child? Sounds pretty painful, right? Frightening as it may be,
that's essentially what an Indonesian woman did when she delivered a 19.2-pound infant measuring 24.4 inches. These stats are more normal for a kid celebrating his first birthday, and doctors attribute the massive body weight to the mother's diabetic condition. Thankfully, the newborn is healthy and showing a strong appetite. It is a good reminder to all expectant ladies to follow through with the glucose test, and especially for diabetic mamas to monitor their diets closely as it can clearly affect their growing child.

What's the heaviest birth weight you've ever heard?

Wow! I heard the biggest baby in recorded history was 23 pounds and was born in 1879. My brother weighed 11 pounds. And out of 5 of us I was the smalles at about 7 pounds I believe.

My friends sister actually gave birth to a 13lb baby. He literally was laying on her chest when I saw him right after the birth and he looked like a 2 year old. It was amazing. He is still a giant child at 3 as he is taller than 6 year olds.

My son was 9.4 lbs. and born vaginally. I thought that was huge at the time, but I don't think around 9 lbs is so big anymore.

Wow! 19 lbs! My 15 month old is barely 20 lbs. I am only 4'9 and my daughter was 8lbs 2oz at birth, which I thought was a big baby! Definitely no where near the 19 lb range!

My mom was about 5'2 and 100 pounds and didn't have any health issues when she got pregnant with my younger sister who weighed 12 pounds, 6 ounces (delivered naturally without any drugs!). I weighed 10 pounds, 12 ounces. And, my other sister and brother were 8 and 9 plus pounds. I think some women just have big babies. But a 19 pounder? I'm speechless!

Thank GOD4 her c-section/epidural!! Now, lets see how many OUCH's I can get..lol. Question posed was asking what is the biggest baby u know of? MINE. My husband, born@14.5 lbs, breech. I was 5.2lbs @birth. When I became pregnant, I prayed, thinking somewhere in the middle is totally normal, right? Well, my first child..I got gestational diabetes, went on insulin, watched diet closely,(I know bad bad bad, I smoked cigs the whole time too) which causes low birth weight (not mine) in addition to so many other horrible things. Anyhoo- 1st things I told dr.= I have small hips and not trying to be any hero. Told him about my husband and my birth weights all term/normal.. and I want epidural asap, lol. SO many things happened- I had to be induced, argh, pitocin! My epidural didn't work at all,& never got another one. My son was sleeping hands locked and laced behind his head- his shoulders and elbows made his way down and out. 36 stitches later (cuz I wouldn't let them break his shoulder once they saw he was reclined and stuck.. After 2days of labor and almost 8 hrs of pushing (while waiting for a c-section room to open, don't get me started on that one)...My beautiful, healthy, 10lb 10oz son came into the world. Totally round head (from having elbows make the way) To this day, no one believes I delivered him naturally, no drugs (not by choice)or that he was that big. It was the MOST painful thing I've ever gone through. Funny- I'd do it again tomorrow. He is the best gift I've ever gotten!! &here we are 10yrs later... it goes by soooo fast. In telling the story, it feels like yesterday. So- good luck to all you mommy's to be. Our children are worth a couple days of suffering, to have them hopefully forever!!! The second he was born, any pain, fear, doubt, question, worry- the what if's, the how-to's.. all became pain-free and crystal clear. Congrats to you all, it's a miracle. Esp! the 10.10 or 19.5 lb ones. ha ha.

Yeah, she did. The original article has the doctors stating that it was difficult during surgery.

Mine was 9 lbs 11 oz. and I had a c-section. I'm sure this lady had one too so saying "ouch" is a bit silly. I'm not saying she had a good time by any means, but her vagina is fine, lol.
