Would You Swing Your Vote to Put a Mom in Office?

As moms, when we cast our votes we cast them not only for ourselves, but for our under-aged children. John McCain made an interesting and likely calculated decision when he tapped Sarah Palin to be his running mate. The Governor of Alaska is a parent to five children aged 4 months to 19 years old — Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, and Trig. While Palin's juggling of career and family (including a son with special needs — her baby was diagnosed with Down syndrome) certainly is admirable, is it enough for the Republicans to win your vote?

Are the 72-year-old presidential candidate and the 44-year-old mother your idea of a dream team?

sarah, don't you know that facts have a notoriously liberal bias? what are you doing, posting facts here and whatnot?

I don't even think "years wise" she has more experience. The same year she started serving on the city council, Obama was teaching Constitutional Law. Teaching constitutional law counts as relevant experience in my book.

But years wise, she has more experience. Yes.

She's not qualified because she was the mayor of a town of 6,000 and she's not qualified because she was the governor of Alaska. She just doesn't seem qualified for VP in my opinion.

Well here's how their experience compares:Palin: Education BA in Journalism from University of Idaho1992 -1996 member of City Council of Wasilla pop. currently: 8,471 (even lower at the time)1996 - 2002 Mayor of Wasilla2003 - 2004 Chairperson of Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission2006 - Present Governor of Alaska (pop: 656,424)Need I mention that she traveled outside of the U.S. for the first time in 2007, traveling to Kuwait and Germany with a layover in Ireland.-----Obama: Education: BA from Columbia in Poli. Sci. with a specialization in International Studies; J.D. from Harvard Law School; was president of the Harvard Law Review and graduated magna cum laude1992 - 2004 taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School1997 - 2004 Illinois Senate representing the 13th district 781,0002005 - present U.S. Senator representing the state of Illinois (pop: 12,852,548) During his tenure he has served on the Foreign Relations committee, Environment and Public Works committee and the committee on Veterans' Affairs, the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee, and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He also served as the Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs. In addition, he has has represented the U.S. on official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.I would also add his campaign experience to this list. It is not easy to manage a national campaign of this size, especially against the Clintons.

Experience ISN'T everything. Typo, my fault.

Kennedy had very little experience and if he wasn't assassinated I think he would have done tremendous things for this country. Experience is everything. The way I look at is if McCain wins and were to get into office and God forbid he dies, I would be scared out of my mind. I don't think she could be a good President or VP. Now if the tables were turned, I would feel comfortable with Biden as President. That's how I look at it.

And who cares about experience, I don't think Palin will be a great VP, I don't. I think McCain can do the job of President so can Obama. That's what I'm concerned about. The reason why I'm not voting for McCain is that I don't agree with the things he does agree with. Plain and simple. I just think Obama/Biden ticket is stronger than a McCain/Palin ticket. Lincoln had damn near no experience in politics and he changed America and the world.

Really, and how do you justify that statement? I have facts if you want them.

Palin does NOT have more experience than Obama. You can just get that out your head right now.

Doesn't matter to me what the candidates personal life is like or their gender or race for that matter. If our belief systems don't match, I'm not voting for them. Plain and simple. And I don't agree with her or McCain so it's not going to happen. I can admire her for being a mom runing for office, but that's as far as it goes.

Also she's probably not even all that qualified, McCain only did this as a strategy to get more votes. Anybody who doesn't see that must not have a brain!

Heck no what matters most to me is a candidate that is going to make this country better. I could care less if the candidate is a mom or not.
