The Dangerous Summertime Stroller Mistake We're All Making

You Know You're a Mother When: Baggage

You Know You're a Mother When: Baggage

Quick trips out of the house don't happen much for new mothers. Just ask funny lady Amy Poehler.

With her one-month-old baby boy, Archie, in tow, Amy stepped out for some fresh air, but it looks like she discovered that running an errand requires a lot more work and gear now than it did in her pre-mommy days. Once mamas muster up the energy (and guts) to leave the house, many find themselves carting a slough of necessities like a stroller, diapers, pacifiers, bottles, breast pads and their most precious cargo — the bundle of joy.

What was your first time out of the house like after welcoming your babe into the world?

Um, she looks perfectly capable of pushing her stroller. I see that it looks big next to her but suggesting she choose a smaller stroller cause she's short is moronic. They probably need something like this with an adjustable handlebar since her husband is tall.

I remember now knowing how many diapers to pack when leaving the apartment. :)

The stroller's closer to the camera, which makes it look bigger. Amy's taller than I am and I don't look that short next to that type of stroller. I scheduled as many outings as I could around feedings, but if not, I just fed where I was.

And I think the other trick is planning those walks in between feeding times. That was the biggest challenge. My son was eating every 3-4 hours for a while, so I had to go for my walks within that time frame. I didn't want to have to stop somewhere to feed him!

First of all, this stroller is way to huge for Amy. She looks so silly. I get that she wanted a Bugaboo, but maybe it is just too much stroller for her. After my sons first week, I started taking nice long walks with him. We went to the GAP all the time. It was so nice to get a little excersize and fresh air, and my son loved the walks. He hated being in stores though so that was tricky. I spent alot of time pushing the stroller and holding him. Thank goodness for my Baby Bjorn!

We did a ton of running around the week after my first was born since family was visiting and it was easier to go to them rather than have them come to us. I believe essentially we had the baby, his bucket seat, a diaper bag, and the stroller if we were going to be walking at all.
