I also have been writing my daughter letters...certainly not once a month, but a couple every year. As she has grown much older...the 14+ stage, it's been harder to write positive things, but I've still managed to put out a letter a year (I know...it's not the best)...But now she is 17...and we've had some difficult misunderstandings in the last two years. Let's just say she doesn't "favor me"...I've told her about the letters...and that if she really wants to know about me...she's welcome to read them. I told her that they were probably going to be part of her 18th birthday gift (she'll be away at college at that time). In her wisdom, she rebuked, "Mom, I know in which the spirit you wrote them...and I am not ready for that"...still working on our relationship...but they are so valuable!
