Boy Uses Allowance to Buy Books For Inmates, Proves Good Souls Exist at Any Age

What's a 9-year-old boy doing at the local sheriff's office? Plenty of good, that's what.

Tyler Fugett showed up to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee last week with more than 100 books to donate to the jail library, reports ABC News. He had used his allowance money and gone to book sales to make the donation happen.

His mom, Rebecca Corkren, told ABC News, "He said, 'When I'm thinking bad thoughts, I like to read, so I want to collect books for them.'" Corkren said Tyler had a relative who had been to jail.

The jail library accepted all the books, given that it completely relies on donations. And now, Tyler is collecting toiletries to give to inmates as well.

"He has my house looking like a store and I'm like, 'Whatever floats your boat, son,' because he's doing the right thing," Corkren said. "We live penny to penny and for him to do this, it's a blessing to see."
