Hillary Clinton Defended Elizabeth Warren Against the GOP in 1 Epic Tweet

There she is.

On Twitter on Wednesday, Hillary Clinton reacted to news that Senator Elizabeth Warren was told to be quiet by her GOP colleagues. Warren was protesting the nomination of Jeff Sessions as attorney general on the Senate floor on Tuesday evening by reading a letter that Coretta Scott King wrote about Sessions in 1986. Even after she was asked to stop speaking because she had violated a rule the forbids impugning another senator, Warren kept reading before being told to sit down. "She was warned. She was given an explanation," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. "Nevertheless, she persisted."

Clinton quoted McConnell's words and added "So must we all." Her tweet defending Warren, who campaigned with her during the 2016 election, has received tens of thousands of likes and retweets.

Clinton is not the only one to turn McConnell's words into a battle cry for other women. The hashtag #shepersisted began trending on Twitter as users filled it with stories of other remarkable women who stood up for their beliefs.
