On Sunday night during the 89th Academy Awards, The New York Times aired a new commercial entitled "The Truth Is Hard" for the first time ever. This comes after Trump repeatedly referred to several news outlets as "fake news" and has even called the media "an enemy to the American people."

In the 30-second advertisement, several proclamations about "the truth" appear in bold black text across a white background. "The truth is alternative facts are lies," can be heard in one voice-over. "The truth is locker room talk is harmless," another voice-over says, referring to Trump's outrageous excuse for his vile comments about grabbing women by their genitals. The commercial also takes on Trump's alleged ties to Russia and his controversial travel ban, closing with a simple statement: "The truth is hard. The truth is hard to find. The truth is hard to know. The truth is more important now than ever."
