President Obama Has No Time For Donald Trump's Ridiculous Anti-Muslim Rhetoric

President Obama offered sympathy to victims of the Orlando, FL, attack; shared updates on the fight against ISIS; and called out the danger of anti-Muslim rhetoric on Tuesday. In an address to the media, Obama called for common sense gun regulations and went after politicians who are using the tragedy as as a political tool or distraction — and it's hard not to see his comments as a rebuke of Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump. Obama said, "enough talking about being tough on terrorism. Actually be tough on terrorism and stop making it easy as possible for terrorists to buy assault weapons."

The speech came after a meeting with his national security council, and the president reassured Americans that officials "know who the enemy is," continuing:

"So do the intelligence and law enforcement officers who've spent countless hours disrupting plots and protect all Americans, including politicians who tweet and appear on cable news shows."

Following the shooting, Donald Trump has made a series of troubling statements. He seemed to accept congrats for predicting terrorism, implied the shooter was from Afghanistan (when in fact he was born in New York), reupped his call for an immigration ban on Muslims, and even implied President Obama was somehow complicit or involved in the plots by Islamist extremists. When The Washington Post reported on that last occurrence, Trump revoked its campaign press credentials.

Watch Obama's sober address, which also includes updates on the current investigation in Orlando and the US fight against ISIS (aka ISIL).
