Do You Cruise Craigslist for Pet Supplies or Services?

Do You Cruise Craigslist For Pet Supplies or Services?

I'm a big fan of re-purposing old, beat up items and turning them into something great. Since Craigslist is like a big 'ole virtual yard sale, I can pick up some pretty cool furniture pieces and things I never would find elsewhere to add to my home. However, I don't really go into the pet section on CL, mostly because I bought all of North's things new and I haven't really seen the need.

But, upon checking it out the other day, I saw that there were bunches of pet supplies either up for sale or for free. Additionally, there were tons of dog walker and pet sitter service listings in my area that I hadn't seen in the paper. So it got me to wondering: how many of you have used Craigslist to find pet services or supplies?

I got a crate for free off of craigslist. I already had 2 (yes, my pooch is spoiled rotten - 1 for the house 1 for the car), but I wanted one to leave at my parents house, (instead of bring the car one in and out each time we go there). I've also picked up a couple of other pet supplies so I could take them to our local rescues/shelters. Some people don't know where to go, so I have no problem going and picking stuff up and dropping it off.

I've given away a dog crate, but never gotten anything for my dog. Yet :)

I sell their old things on CL, but I've never bought anything. My cats would NOT like their things to smell like other kitties. I use sittercity.com for sitters.

I do not buy anything used and would never buy pet supplies from someone who could not warranty the product. I guess that's good that I don't like used things because some fool in my building bought in used furniture he found on the street - now the building has BED BUGS. Dumb azz. Now I'm all freaked out cause these things are everywhere and the Pest Control Company is arriving any minute to rid me of the little buggers. You never know what nasty things used items are harboring.

Heck yes, I've found so much great stuff (Pet and non pet related). I just moved to a new town and know absolutely NO ONE and we found a dog sitter on there. She turned out to be AWESOME! And I've actually sold stuff on there too, like carrying bags B-Bop outgrew and stuff. Craiglist rules!

I just was on there the other day looking to for a 2nd crate to keep in the car. I also sold Kasey's previous travel crate on craigslist when he outgrew it. As with everything, there are things I wouldn't buy 2nd hand, but there is plenty that I would.
