Do You Still Go To The Circus?

Still Checking Out the Circus?

Going to the circus when I was a kid was as American as apple pie – its talented animals and trapeze artists made a stop nearby almost every Summer. Now that I'm older (and wiser), I know that many of these animals live in deplorable conditions so when I read about the elephant who escaped from his big top duties and was found wandering into someone's Kansas yard, I was kind of surprised – there are traveling circuses still in operation?

I guess I just assumed they went the way of the dinosaur, but when I checked out the Ringling Brothers website, they have a whole slew of cities and dates for this year's shows! Places like Phoenix, San Diego, and Las Vegas! Do you still go to the circus when it hits your town?

I agree with Spectra. I've seen it happen. It's like mink bisnes.

I've actually went to rallies against the circus while they're in town. It's horriblw what they do to those poor animals. I can't believe they're still around and that people still support them. I think it's a crime.

I used to go to the circus as a kid, but now I'd never go to one because the animals are mistreated so badly. I thought the zoo was bad; it's NOTHING compared to the circus.

I cannot in good conscience go because of the cruelty to the animals. I think there are other forms of entertainment that doesn't use and abuse living creatures.

no circus' for me, for a couple of reasons. one, is clowns, im scared of them so no chance in hell i'd wanna go to the "watering hole" of clowns...and 2, i don't think large animals should be exploited and be treated like crap.

I knew it was around. I walk by the place they have it in town every day on my way to work, but I haven't gone in years. Between the smell and the clowns (SCARY) I just can't deal.

I remember going to a Ringling Brothers circus when I was a kid in an arena in the Reno Ballys, and I was freaked out by the idea of those giant and/or dangerous animals inside. It just didn't seem right. Ever since then I've passed on circuses. Plus, the smell. Ugh, you can just tell the animals aren't being treated well because of the awful smell.

I also will not go to a circus because of the treatment of the animals. And that treatment DOES NOT need to happen. If they stepped up their responsibility with animals. They will see me again. Because I loved the circus growing up.

I couldn't agree with you more, Skinny. They are just NOT nice to those poor animals. Not only that, clowns freak me out.
