New Puppy Alert! Eva Longoria Parker

Why hello there, smooshy face! Looks like Eva wanted to get a close-up look at your smushy, mushy goodness before taking you home! Jinxy (aka, the white fluffer, whose tail you see on Eva's lap) just got a new BFF yesterday when she picked out the new Pug puppy to be a pal for the other pooch. To see why I'm glad to see both pups along for this ride (and more adoro pictures),

.

When adding a new member to your furry fam, it's important to see if they get along so I'm extra happy even Jinxy got to take part in the selection process! If you're adding a new pup, introduce them on neutral ground, not in your home or yard to prevent early turf wars. Let them approach, sniff, and walk around each other without you interacting (or interfering a ton) with either one. It helps to be low key yet encouraging with a mellow happy-puppy voice – and be ready to step in if things suddenly go awry.

I love pugs! I have one, too. They are so cute and friendly. Just love them.

I agree. Do not buy a puppy from a pet store! I'm all for rescues, but if you want a pure bred dog, it is not hard to find a reputable breeder. You should visit the kennel, and witness for yourself the conditions the parents and the puppies are living in. Not only is it an issue of cruelty, but puppy mills are also much more likely to produce puppies that are sick or have genetic disorders because of overbreeding. And don't buy a dog online! I knew someone who paid for a Yorkie puppy online (over a thousand bucks), and it was supposed to be flown out to them, but their money was taken and they never got their puppy.

I just left this comment on popsugar and I agree with ufshutterbabe that it's important to post here too: Okay, of course we all like puppies - they are adorable. However, it DOES matter where the dog comes from. Almost all dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills - cruel mass breeding operations that keep dogs confined for years in horrible conditions. If you really love dogs, you won't buy one from a pet store!!! The puppies you see in the mall may be cute, but you have to think of their parents - the behind-the-scenes breeder dogs that spend the majority of their lives in cramped, filthy cages being bred over and over and over... I work at an animal shelter and I can tell you that we have ALL KINDS OF DOGS! Puppies, purebreds, little ones, big ones, you name it. Celebrities who buy dogs at pet stores are setting an awful example. When we see them buying a puppy, it's all too easy to forget about all of the wonderful rescue dogs (puppies included) that are out there waiting for homes

Directly copied from my response to Popsugar's report of the new pug, because it is important enough to say it twice: yes, all pups need a caring home. But when you purchase from a pet shop, you are supporting puppy mills and the terrible conditions that the dogs live under there. You are also supporting irresponsible breeding practices that results in unhealthy animals. These dogs are far more likely to face health problems for the duration of their lives. And when those health problems get to be too expensive for the family that purchased from the pet shop, guess where the dog will end up - at a shelter, rescue or euthanized. Bottom line is - if there were no market demand for poorly-bred pet shop dogs, there would be no puppy mills.

Puppies from this sickening pet stores are obtained from puppy mills. At the mills the puppies parents live in the most horrible conditions imaginable. It makes me sick to see these idiot "celebrities" promoting pet stores!!! Maybe if they actually cared about animals instead of the pups just being an accessory they would use their fame to help the campaign to end puppy mills.....Oh wait, that's right, if they did that then they'd being doing something responsible and caring. Instead of acting in a stupid TV show or being in a mag showing off their closets....a**holes!

I do not agree with buying a dog from a pet store, however, that being said, those dogs need homes too. When you think about it do they really live in a very different environment from shelter dogs? Besides, the pet store might have a shelter inside it or associated with it. Many of the pet stores around here are linked with reputable adoption agencies and have adoption services. Who knows!

I have volunteered with my local animal shelter for 3+ years. Mutts make great pets. Sorry that celebs must select a pet from a pet store (no no no).

I wish all these celebs would go to good breeders instead of pet stores to buy their dogs. Or... hey... how bout a shelter!? I know some do, like Jessica Biel, but most want these tiny designer pups or the ever present Maltese.
