DeanMartin, sunroof or not you still should leave your pet in the car. It still gets hot (sunlight magnified through glass) and heat goes up, but it can also still get very warm in a car (I was waiting in someone's car before with the sunroof open and it still got really hot because there was no breeze). So yeah, I hope people do call the cops on you because if you say your pup suffers even in 50 degree weather then you should be ashamed of yourself.

my dogs are not temperate at all so it doesn't matter the situation if its over say 80 or under 50 they suffer. i rarely ever take them anywhere during the heat of the day. during morning or evening hours if they go with me i leave the sunroof open so the car doesn't heat up. if someone called the cops on me for doing this i would tell them off too!!!! our sunroof opens wider than any window plus heat rises.

Got 8 out of 8 right! I live in Texas. Mom raised me to NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER leave pets in cars, unless someone is in it with them, and the AC is at full blast! You wouldn't believe how many times I've seen someone leave their pet in the car.....such a shame.

Only missed one...116 degrees? Zoinks! I'll admit to leaving Gracie in the car, but my ride has a remote start on it, so I restart the car upon exiting, which turns the heat/ac back on. And the longest that's been was enough time to buy her a bottle of water at the grocery store after we'd been out at the park and she'd exhausted my water resources...6 minutes, I timed it.

How terrible to witness Katy! :( I left mine in the car with it running (AC full blast) for just a few minutes while I returned some movies this evening but I would NEVER dream of leaving them like that. If I have errands to run I leave them @ home!!!

I have a question for everyone...What can we really do if we see a pet in a hot car? I DID see 2 dogs and (believe it or not) a bird in a car on a VERY hot day. I went in the store to have the people paged and the store wouldnt do it. They said to call the cops. So I did. The cops said if the windows are cracked there is nothing they can do...I told them I was going to break the window because they looked to be in distress and he told me he would arrest me if I did that. So what in the world can we really do????? In case you are wondering the people finally after over an hour came out of the store. There was about 15 people around their car. Some were pouring water in the cracked window for the dogs. People started questioning them as to why they would leave them in the car and they got really nasty with us. Telling us to mind our own business. The cops finally arrived after 30 minutes and were useless! Told everyone to move along. They had the windows cracked and by law they didn't do anything wrong. I just don't get it...
