Rub-a-Dub, Put Kitty in the Tub?

Even though there are dangers in the bathroom for pets, many people have kitties that like to hop in the tub. Is your cat keen on bath time, either peeking in on you or entertaining herself?

When Hiei was a kitten he got a really severe upper-resperitory infection that almost killed him. Along with lots of other home therapies along with medication, I kept him in the bathroom with me to help clear up his lungs with the hot steam! He's used to it, so sometimes he'll join me in the bathroom for shower time!

Whenever I take a bath I'll find my kitty, Stimpy, peeking over the ledge resting his head on his two front paws. Like he wants to jump in, but he has second thoughts. So he just sits there and meows at me like I'm supposed to do soemthing about it :P

Haha, my cat just likes to chill in the bathtub when it's empty, she doesn't like the water too much. She'll just sleep in there. Sometimes she'll scare people though because someone will go in there and she'll just pop out of the tub.

My Jezebel LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES the water. She tries to hop in the shower with me. She even knocks over her water sometimes and lays in it. She is a total water girl!

Whoa!! I totally thought my cat was the only one!! She loooves the shower, loves peeking through the curtains while I'm in there and hopping in when I'm done! When she first started doing it I thought she was ill and trying to tell me something...but turns out she's just fascinated! Cool that she's not the only one!

Cuteness! Love these stories! I hope you will allow an exception to the feline rule: My dog loves to be groomed- brushes, combs, barrettes.... anything but the dreaded B-A-T-H! She watches me earnestly with total concern like "What are DOING? Don't you know what THAT STUFF will do to you?"

My girl wants to take her own bath while I take mine. I get the big tub and she hangs out in the bathroom sink with a trickle of water hitting her that she uses to help lick herself clean.

Both Connor and Milo are very curious about just what the hell we think we're doing in there.. (I really think they think there's an escape hatch). When I take a bath in our jacuzzi tub, Milo gets very upset. He worriedly watches, sometimes comes over and has a sniff, and once tried to walk along the edge of the tub. Only a quick thinking catmommy caught him and saved us both from a traumatic experience. They do both get regular baths because they're Maine Coons with stupidly long hair that they can't effectively clean themselves. They get quite stinky. We were happy when we moved to the new place, because one of the bathtubs has a sliding glass shower door, so I climb in with them in grubby clothes, and shut both doors. No escaping now! Mwuahahahah! They're both also in love with the toilets, and like to drink from them. *sigh*

One of my kitties will hurl herself towards the bathroom door when I turn the bath water on. She immediately gets up on the sides of the tub and makes herself comfortable as the tub fills up. If I'm having a quick bath and don't use as much water as I normally do, she will still insist on having her 20 minute long drink! So, she'll lay on the side as low as she can get and lean in and dip her paw in the water and get it that way. Sometimes if I'm in the mood to spoil her, I'll cup my hands together, gather water and bring my hands up to where she is - what a spoiled kitty! She sticks her nose up at the fresh water in her bowl and insists on using the kitchen faucet or the bathrooms or my tub to get her water for the day! Crazy daisy cat!

Peanut used to be SO interested in the tub. He'd hang down from the counter above the faucet, looking but not actually getting in. Then one day, I'm taking a bath, laying down with my eyes closed, and BAM!!! He jumps right on my stomach. I panic, he panics, there's water all over, I'm covered in scratches, and in the eight years since, he's never showed more than a passing interest in the bathtub again. My little Phlocken, though, is another story. He loves the tub so much we actually tried to get him in there with us when he was younger. He didn't go for that, though. But still, every night, he has to come investigate. Sometimes I take a cup and pour it out slooowly for him- he bats at the water and tries to lick it. Other times, he'll come up and put his paw into the water. Then he'll turn his head away like he's not paying attention, and stretch his little arm until his whole paw is submerged. Then he'll just sit there for a minute, pretending he doesn't know what's going on. He's funny!! My brother's cat used to sit between the shower curtains, too. Then he'd lick your toes when you were drying off.

Princess likes to get in the tub when no one is around and there's no chance of any water. Bear likes to hang out on the side of the tub when I'm giving SweetPea a bath in the evening. But both cats HATE water, and HATE getting baths themselves.

Sage waits patiently every chance she gets by the faucet for us to turn it on. Spencer is a gentleman and waits for her to finish and then he has a go at it. They both love to hang out while we shower. Spencer likes the water unless we were actually trying to give him a bath and in that case I don't think he'd go for it. They both will occasionally just sit in the tub, hanging out.

Calliope walked along the side of my bathtub while I was showering once, but she keeps away from the water. Every time I shower she loves to lie on the bathroom mat or on the toilet seat, so she's the first thing I see when I pop out!

Eliot LOVES the tub, but he doesn't like to get too wet. If I'm in the shower, he pokes at the shower curtain and puts his head in to watch. If I'm taking a bath, he sits on the edge of the tub and puts his face near the water to see what's going on. But what he's REALLY obsessed with is the toilet. He's fascinated by it...he jumps up on the seat and likes to watch it flush. I think he'd be easy to potty train if I ever wanted to try it...he definitely ISN'T afraid of the toilet!

Cliffy LOVES the tub. He'll sleep there, play there, and on more than one occasion I've turned around and found him about to hop in with me. It's kinda freaky.

I picked the loving the tub but without the water, as we have more than one cat we occasionally find hanging out in the empty tub (I think a couple of them like the echoes from tub and shower door), but some of them like to check out what we're doing when one of us is taking a bath (while keeping dry, of course). However, our youngest will actually climb onto us in the tub, and has actually walked along the top of the shower door (he's the only one to even attempt it) while the shower was going. He's a freak, that cat is.

Napoleon drags all his toys into the tub to play with for some reason or another and he's always curious about the shower. He's super weird.
