Sleepypod for Your Pampered Pals

Pampered Pals: Sleepypod Mini For the Little Kitty

We talk so much about crates and carriers, and how handy they are when it comes to travel, but the design of this carrier seems to be totally unique . . . and perfect for the kitties! Sleepypod Mini ($134.50) is a plush resting place for your tiny pal (under eight pounds) that's easy to care for, and best of all — take anywhere. Since I can't stress enough about how important car safety is, this carrier is PetSugar approved, since both the sleek Sleepypod and Sleepypod Mini come equipped to be buckled in while your animal sleeps inside.
I remember trying to lure my childhood cat, Precious, into one of those standard plastic carriers — there wasn't a single appealing thing about it and, I swear when she saw it, she knew it was time for the vet! This carrier, however, could easily double up as a pet's bed – with the removable top off — and it seems easier to coax a kitty inside this cuddly creation than a hard, sterile one. To make nap time even cozier, Sleepypod has an available Warmer ($55) that slips into the bottom layer, keeping your pets comfy on chilly nights . . . and, just to get a little more geeky, it even has a car adapter to keep the toasty warmth coming on the road! Maybe this should have been a Spoiled Sweet or Rotten poll, no?

You'll find that there is a wide variety of pet carriers available such as airline approved pet carriers, designer pet carriers and much more.

Actually my kitties love getting into their carrier! I left it open in the house for awhile with toys in it, so their experience with it hasn't been all bad. This is a little expensive for me, but something I would consider if we traveled more - or the vet was actually more than a mile away.

I ended up giving my Sleepy Pod away (normal-sized) because it wasn't secure enough for my cats. It was awkward to carry straight so that they weren't sliding around inside, and it was hard to get a very unhappy frisky kitty in and out without getting hurt (me, not the cat)--even while sedated. I like the hard-sided type better now. I have one that has a base that stays in the car and the top carrier part snaps in when it's time to go, like a carseat.

Jude C, Oh God! I know how that goes! Nothing like a little aerobic cat plunging to get the heart rate up!

If I could afford these, I'd definitely get one for each of my munchkins :) I hate that part of getting the cat into the carrier when he plants all four of his paws right on the edges and just will not let go!

My 13 pound lump of a Persian guy would fall through the bottom of this. That is, if he could even get one buttcheek in there! ;)
