Video Catnip: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

If your cat tires of looking out the window at creatures beyond his grasp, he can now look into the television at creatures beyond his grasp. Video Catnip is a outdoorsy compilation of bird, squirrel, and chipmunk scenes geared towards your pet. Using quick movements, close-ups, and realistic sounds, the DVD is meant to capture and hold kitty's attention . . . and, perhaps in high definition, trick him into believing that he's actually outside. According to the website, cats watch the show intently, paw at the screen, or even run around the TV looking for where the animals went! The two-hour DVD costs $17.95 and auto repeats for their continual viewing pleasure/torture. I can't figure out if it's brilliant or pointless – what's your take?

I know my cats love it when golf is on because they love to watch the ball flying through the air. So I can see them loving this. But they also have each other to love. :)

i hate most frou frou animal accessories, but a friend let me borrow this and my cat was practically hypnotized, so i got my own. it's weird to watch her be so focused. and then attack the tv.

I voted spoiled sweet. Why? When I know I will be out of the house for a long while, sometimes I put on a similar dvd for my cat. It's called Catsitter and can be found here: http://petsittervideos.com/ I have a few videos of Butterscotch watching her Catsitter DVD intently. She really does like it, even though she is not interested in regular TV. It has birds, small animals, etc...all the same types of things this Video Catnip has. And oh yes, you can put it on endless loop if you want to! I wouldn't leave a kitty unsupervised the first time though...just in case they try to jump on the tv!

My pets love tv. My grandma bought this vhs tape when I was a kid for her cat called the "Feline Adventure Video"....it was mostly birds, and the cat loved it.

I love the blue star up in the corner that says, "The best video ever made for cats. Period." -Tom Who is Tom and what qualifies him to be the, known-only-by-one-name expert, like Ebert or something? Too funny. Maybe it's Tom from Tom and Jerry. At any rate, I'd love to know if anyone can recommend a video like this. I'm curious if my cat would enjoy it or be tortured by it. I have an HD TV, so I wouldn't want the cat to crash through it chasing a bird on the screen or something.

That's great! Nothing wrong with some stimulation! I feel sorry for bored kitters. As it is now, my cats come meowing when they are bored! There's another DVD like this called Pet Sitter or Pet Nanny or something like that. I don't know what my cats would think. They'd probably know it was just the TV, though.
