Ok, here is a very sad story :( About 2 years ago, I was leaving my house for work and I accidentally stepped on the tip of my little babies tail! He didn't even make a hissing sound so when he started to "favor" the tip, or in other words, just let it hang we started teasing him and calling him broken tail. About a month later I knew something was wrong with his tail because it was still just "hanging" but he never made any indication whatsoever that it hurt. Anyways, I took him to the vet only to find out that the last inch of his tail had died beucase I had crushed the bones and cartiliage when I had stepped on it and started turning black! I was mortified to find out that they were going to have to amputate the end or he would get gangrene! I only weigh 100! I was so sad...I felt so bad because my hubby and I had "made fun" of his tail :( What made it worse is he is my little baby. The surgery was successful although it did take his tail a VERY long time to heal because he kept hitting it on things. The vet had to wrap the end of his tail with a sterile plastic tube so that it could heal properly. Today though he is a happy little camper today with and inch shorter tail!
