Abandoned Shelter Dog Refused to Give Up Hope

Would You Share a Shower With a Pet?

I learned quite a bit at the Ugliest Dog Contest — like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," and that one of the competitors admittedly hops in the shower with her semi-hairless dog. Although first wondering how and why that worked, I visualized trying to bathe a large pooch and imagined it'd be easier to hop into a tub or shower with the dog for a better grip, right? (Full disclaimer: North gets bathed in the sink.) What's your take on this?

I did all the time. She was 5 pounds so I would just hold her. She hated to get wet so I think this made her feel better.

If I want to save the $50 groomer's fee for my standard poodle (70 lbs) we get in the shower together. I cannot lift her into the tub and there is no way she will jump in. She tolerates the shower fairly well. There is a glass door so she can step in and not jump out. It's a great bonding experience.

My 58 lb dog has a strange fascination with bathtubs and showers. If she can get into the bathroom while I am showering she will poke her head in at the back and try to catch some of the water. She's even gone as far as to step in with her front legs. I'm not sure why she does it, but it's made it very easy to bathe her. I just get her to hop in with me and after I'm done shampooing her I throw some towels down on the floor for her and continue taking my shower. We both end up clean and I don't have to fight to get her in the tub!

I also bathe the dog first then my husband takes him and dries him while I shower. Then I have to hurry and jump out so the cat can run in and drink all the puddles left in the tub.

Absolutely not! I'm trying to get clean when I'm in the shower!

My chihuahuas have been showering with me for years. The dachshund, not so much, but we're working on it.

I wouldn't get into the tub with an animal (just imagine all the bacteria...eww!) BUT I used to have a cat that just absolutely LOVED to get inside the shower with my family and I! Whenever he heard the water running, he would bolt into the shower and just hang out in there! That was so cute. I believe a shower is OK but not actually BATHING with the animal in the tub.

Nope. Zena gets bathed with the tub with a shower hose and I'm outside the tub bending over.

My dog freaks out when he is in the tub...so I get in the shower with him; works a lot easier.

sure I do. That is how I wash my dog!!! My husband takes him out of the shower and dries him off with the blowdryer while I finish washing myself.

Only once has my black lab gotten a bath in the tub at home. Yes, I was in there with him, he's way easier to control that way! About a month ago a new pet store opened in the next town over and they have bathing stations. Last week I took my dog there, and STILL ended up in the waist-high tub :) I couldn't get to his far side, and he wouldn't turn around . . . So there I was :)
