Ellen Pompeo and Will Ferrell Watched History Be Made Last Night

Jason Collins made history on Sunday night when he put on his Brooklyn Nets jersey and took the court with his new team to play against his hometown team, the Lakers, in LA. The moment was a big one as it marked Jason as the first openly gay athlete to sign with a NBA team after he signed a 10-day contract with the Nets on Sunday. (Jason came out in an issue of Sports Illustrated last April but wasn't playing for a team when he made his announcement.) Before hitting the court this weekend, Jason revealed he wasn't focused on the history-making moment, saying, "Right now, I’m focused on trying to learn the plays, the game plan assignment. I don’t have time to really think about history right now."

The game was made even more exciting with a star-studded audience. Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, sat courtside with thier daughter, Stella Luna, and Will Ferrell had some bonding time with his youngest son, Axel, over popcorn. Both families watched as the Nets beat the Lakers, 108 to 102.
