Guests Arrive For Prince George's Birthday Party!

It was a special day in London on Tuesday when Prince George's closest friends and family gathered to celebrate his first birthday. The little heir turned 1 on July 22, and while his parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, publicly marked the occasion by releasing new photos of their son to the world and thanking "everyone . . . both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George," they also planned a special private event.

The party took place at George's home in Kensington Palace with his grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton as well as uncles James Middleton and Prince Harry in attendance. Pippa Middleton, Zara Phillips, and her husband, Mike Tindall, as well as Kate's good friend Emilia d'Erlanger arrived with gifts. The queen made a special trip to the residence for the occasion, though Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Camilla didn't attend due to royal duties. Before the bash, Kate and George's nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo took George to Buckingham Palace to visit his great-grandfather.

While the royal family was busy celebrating, the world was as well. We marked the big day by looking back at George's many faces, including his unimpressed looks, remembering his sweetest moments with Kate, and checking out his imagined Lego-themed birthday bash.
