I agree with tuliplexie, $98K is low for a corporate attorney, especially in NY. An acquantance of mine is starting at $175K as a corporate her first year out of law school

I have no idea where you got your data, but the answer to the first question is wrong. First year attorneys straight out of law school make $160,000 at big-time firms. Michael Clayton's salary would be at least double, more realistically at least tripled.
